here's a few clues ...
1. it's a 2 stroke (ok, not exactly a thumper)
2. it's an off roader
3. has 2 wheels (obviously)
4. has rudimentary clutch & gears

Eerr... dunno but I’m going with something from the eastern block. CZ, MZ, hossack.... can’t think of anymore 😉
Name withheld to protect the innocent 😇
-
Yep, I'm going for a CZ moto crosser...
-
Field Marshall tractor or crawler, 5,000cc single! ;D And, if you have the right one the timber winch on the back! ;D ;D
Keep troshin' bor!
God health, Bill

Rokon ?

puch magnum? you didnt say that it was a big bike.... or even a bike, allen scythe? that ticks all the boxes too. im going for something agricultural like a rotovator mower or scythe.
-
I think you may be right about the Allen Scythe. Wonderful machines - I spent a year working for Birmingham Council repairing horticultural machines and my favourites were the Allen and the Howard Gem rotovator. The Allen was quite terrifying if the clutch wouldn't release and it took off across the workshop with everyone jumping out of the way to avoid having their feet amputated at the ankles.

well done JohnR ... it's an Allen Scythe :-) ... pics to follow .... I couldn't stretch to a field marshall Bill, nor the space for one :-)
-
Sounds like fun - I look forward to progress reports and piccies. There's an interesting write up in one of the classic mags about a guy who put a 1200cc JAP side valve V twin (from a railway inspection trolley!) into a pre war Norton frame. Lovely looking thing.

it was the 'rudimentary clutch and gears' that swung it......
-
You can come round and cut our grass when you've done it.....

So come Steve. What prize does John get for guessing it correctly?
Ps..well done John 👍🤘
-
working on it ;)
-
an allen scythe starter motor?
.

.
also known as a length of frayed sash cord with a knot at one end....
-
working on it ;)
Does that mean you’re working on the restoration of said Allen scythe, or the prize for John? 🤣👍

That's what made me plump for a CZ...

here we go, got the old girl working today, needed a new ignition armature and various stuff like throttle cable, silencer, woodruff keys for the wheels, and a lot of s/s nuts/bolts, split pins etc.
huge fun to do, i haven't stuck to the exact original colours, just the closest i could get with hammerite.
-
oh, and new tyres and tubes, not cheap, but had to be done .... £40 per tube/tyre and a real sod to change.
of course, now it's working, it'll be getting stripped for a tune up, send the barrel away for boring out for larger piston, reporting and polishing. fit HC piston... possibly a carillo rod, then get it re-chipped .... ;)
-
Looks brilliant Steve.... be super cool once you’ve had it chipped.🤣🤣.... pop a footboard on it and it could be a bit like a forerunner for one of them there segways 😁😉... top job 👍
Cheers, Michael
