Title: Air compressors
Post by: Itsme on March 03, 2024, 09:49:57 PM
Hello learned fellows.

I have been considering replacing my old air compressor which I got rid of when the seams began to look a bit rusty on the air tank. Having blown the bottom out of a spray gun as an apprentice I didn't fancy a 24 litre air tank letting go!

My question is would a modern 550w, 100psi compressor with an 8 litre tank have enough capacity to inflate a tubeless tyre from newly fitted?

I have changed my own tyres for the last 50 years and would like to carry on as well as having the capacity back to blow through jets etc. If anyone has a recommendation for a reasonable, reliable compressor I would be grateful of the help. My last compressor was a Clarke given to me by a mate when he had finished with it,

Cheers for any help.

Ian

I had a similar one and it would cope with blowing a tubeless tyre out over the "humps" on mt Tiger 955i. No specific recommendations however. Sadly mine died a couple of years ago and I don't need one enough to replace it.

Thank you gents this is exactly what I needed to know. There's a branch of Tool Station about 5 mins away from my house so I will pop along there and see what they have.

Small Hyundai from Amazon have good reports.

I have a 50litre tank machine, similar to Clarks, and whilst it still runs and meets my requirements, the overall construction is "CHEAP"! The cooling fan flew off the shaft on two occasions, the second time self-destructing. I was able to buy another fan and had to modify it to fit the shaft and secure it, so that it wouldn't fly off.

This is the ToolStation equivelant of the machine that I have, it may be more than you require.

Hope this helps Ian.

Good health, Bill

Thanks Bill

I have seen the Hyundai machines and may give one of them a go.
