I don't expect to see either bike - or even parts although Pete has given me a potential lead - again so looking at pastures new. I've already mentioned the CCM at the local Classic Bike Shop which I'm waiting for the owner to get back to me. But in the meantime I espied a Yamaha SRV250 which is effectively a Virago engine in a featherbed-esque frame. Couldn't resist it for £1150. This is the model although mine is a mucky maroon colour so not as attractive.

The insurance claim is moving forward and I've now fitted an alarm in the garage and a proper lock on the back gate. Talk about bolting the stable door......

When I was an apprentice I worked with a right old character and whenever he was pleased with something or liked something he used to say 'woof ya fu+k+r'. Which is exactly what I thought when I saw the pic of the SRV250 just now! I have never seen one, but now I have I want one.

Brilliant news Ian, so pleased that you haven't got mired down, but instead have gone out and got back in the game.

Love the look of the SRV. Yet another good bike that the Japs kept to themselves. Got to handle better than a Virago surely?

Still waiting for a price on the CCM. I have spoken to someone else who's flogging one on FB but I think it's probably too nice (read expensive!) for me. One owner from newand very nicely kept. But we'll see.....

Actually I'm quite taken by the BSA especially at £2,400. But what's this coming over the horizon? An SWM 440 - Chinese engine but a nice looking thumper at £2995.

Ian that looks amazing value. I believe they used to used a Chinese version of the old XBR 400 engine. Maybe I have it wrong🤔

Well I've gone - rightly or wrongly - for the BSA / Suzuki after a chat with the seller. £2400 seems a decent price and leaves me cash over from the insurance settleent which was confirmed this morning. So an ill wind as they say. I'd still like to see the thives brought to justice but very little chance of that.
