Annual rally - Lake District camping?
« on: June 17, 2007, 09:03:31 PM »
I'm planning to ride over to the Lake District for a couple of days after the annual rally at Dent. Can anyone recommend any good campsites in the Windermere/Ambleside area?

Mind it will be busy that weekend AND that area of the Lake Dristrict is very popular !
I think your best bet would be to look further afield or stay at Dent and use it as a base.

Me and Tony Ross were over at a Beer Fest at a place called Boot in Eskdale two weeks ago and stayed at an excellent site called Fisherground which allows campfires and has its own stop on the Ravenglass/Eskdale steam train. £6.50 for bike and tent. Much ale was consumed at the fest. There is also another site at Boot itself called Hollins. If you put in a search for Eskdale or Boot Beer Fest you should get details easy.
