in the very back of my big shed are two bsa wm20's, both saw serviice in ww2, one is a 1942 one that came back to the uk from egypt, the other is a 1944 that went on thee normandy landings. theyre in a shocking state, but whilst theyre in big bits, theyre pretty much complete bikes missing only the perishables like saddles and tyres, i bought them years ago with the intention of just leaving them as they are until i retire, by which time theyll be worth restoring, im gonna do one in sand cammo and thee other in green. i think theyve been there about 5 or 6 years now, there are some big plastic boxes containing several engines and gearboxes that came with them. im not sure if i have any photos on this computer and theyre too buried for me to easily snap some now, but if i can find them, i will post them. both have girder forks and cut down tanks (they cut the back quarter off the tank to allow an vokes air filter to be fitted to protect them from sand ingress)

Sounds like a lovely project John. When I was an apprentice back in the early 70s I used to be overtaken on my Puch 50 on the way to work most mornings by what I now know to have been an M20 which was being used as just another old bike. I used to gape in awe as it thumped past me, which perhaps explains my love of thumpers now.

There was also a father and son who used to use an M20 outfit with a platform sidecar for scrap collecting around the area of Nottingham where I grew up. Tough buggers the M20/21.

Yes sounds like a very interesting project John. Look forward to (hopefully) seeing some photos at some point. Best of luck with it 👍
