I suspect that I will find very many more nasty things when I get into the XBR engine that I'm about to strip. It came to me seized solid, which is an unusual state of play for XBR lumps which normally die because things get too sloppy, not too tight.
Perhaps we should start a sweepstake to see who can guess the exact cause of the engine's inability to rotate.
Anyway, glad to hear that your stripdown wasn't a waste of effort.
