dr big camchain adjustment

any idea how to adjust the camchain on an 88 dr 750 suzuki?

Hi, If it's the camchain that's slack, the spring loaded tensioner has failed and it means lifting the barrel to replace it (engine out). If it's the timing chain that drives the balance shafts and the camchain sprocket, then there is a manual adjuster inside the timing cover......not a big job, but it means dropping the oil. I usually do at an oil change.
ps. If the camchain tensioner has failed, the exhaust valves can come into contact with the piston, which results in a bent valve or even worse a boken valve which goes through the piston crown.....very messy and also expensive to repair.
