Diodes

The Bonneville died on me   :(  M-1 on Sunday coming up after finishing the national rally and first of all I had to bump it at Leicester forest east, then 2 miles north it died. No spark, no starter, no oil or neutral lights, just a glowing indicator repeater.  :(

Now I'm sure it's the starter motor as the solenoid works but it doesn't turn (shorted across the windings and back up the earth to make the neutral lamp glow, but I have a nagging doubt about the diodes that give the sidestand/clutch/neutral starter logic. Trouble is I can't find them! The Haynes and Triumph manuals show them on the wiring diagrams but don't mention the physical location (they can't find 'em eather no doubt).

So, does anyone know where such electronic gubbins might live on the loom? Don't need to be Bonneville specific, I'm sure Triumph copied Honda/Yam/Suzuki for the locations. Any guesses are appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

on my cbr its a little 1/2" by 1/2" square, and its just hanging out of the loom. i wondered what it was so i took it off and the bike wouldn't start but everything else worked.

first places to look would be anywhere that is could stay dry, so in the headlamp and under the seat.

have a look on the wiring diagram, sometimes you can be lucky and it gives you an idea of where it is.

Cheers mate. Think i've found it. 1/2-inch square lump, as described under the tank and lots of loom insulation. I've not dug it out yet as disconnecting the starter motor has cured the flashing lights etc. so I'll follow that to the logical conclusion before cutting open the loom to look at the lump. Knowing the shape really helped  ;D

Thanks
