sleeping bags
« on: September 22, 2013, 07:55:47 AM »
As my army Arctic bag is getting past it's best I'm thinking about something less bulky and more modern. Anyone in the collective have any thoughts on snugpak softies (and before rob or Jethro asks, yes that is a brand of sleeping bag not any sort of sheep related social affliction)

Cheers

I don't have one but looked at them deeply before carrying on with the army options and what folk were saying was ..............

Snugpaks are good, though perhaps not quite as good as their published temperature ratings suggest.

They tend to be a snug fit compared to army bags.  They do though sell a panel that zips in and makes them a little larger at the top.

Of course if you want to lose bulk then you should be thinking about a Down bag.  Bigger money and don't work when wet, but pack tiny and weigh sod all.

I stayed with the army bags because I am tight and they are tough.
Note to Self: Shiney side goes UP.

I've got a snug pak and love it.  ;D Mine has an expansion panel built in so in cold weather you have it zipped up 'tight' and when it's warmer you have it expanded. Either option provides enough room for me to not feel claustrophobic and it's warm enough for UK winter camping, though it's not been tested at the elephant.

Your bag is big enough for an Elephant !?
Must be a little bulky then.

With 10 pints of Feelin'foul Stout a bin liner would be warm enough.
