more work to do before Pembrey!!
« on: May 14, 2007, 11:21:34 AM »
Currently extending and reshaping the fairing lower / oil catch tank for pembrey.  New brackets, mounts, etc.

The fractured oil cooler cannot be repaired.  I can probably get by without it, but this is just as much hassle as "all oil lines must be solid fittings" ie. no bodged on flexi-hose.  As per mine for the 2nd race.  However, a North London outfit will make a replica (ie. one-off fittings and mounts) to match my pattern.  Tho predicatbly, its not very cheap (but I don't begrudge money for nice stufff, made by engineers).

And I need to weld the seat bracket, cos it gave up the ghost, and the 20 year old welds came away in the heat of battle.  (cable ties for the 2nd race then!)

Will keep you posted, all the best for now,

Yes, you should.  Come on friday night, we'll get the lights and bodywork off it, lockwire as necessary and BINGO!!  A (heavy, uncompetetive!) Supermono!  We can play at the back!

But seriously, Andy Driver has a really trick Skorp which is still, I think, taxed and tested.  136Kg, 80 bhp, and dripping with jewellery.  Something to aspire to, I think he'll have a Bike profile on www.supermono.co.uk if you're interested...

andy...i have an XT oil cooler and pipes you can have (same fittings as the srx, except the pipes are longer 'cos they went from the engine (just behind the cylinder base), to the oil tank, instead of the drillings in front of the oil filter al la SRX.
any good?

was going to fit it to the tz/srx track bike....no bl00dy space!

Cheers Steve, but this is a real pain, given that its a a Yam FZR (or something) part, modded to fit custom (solid) oil lines in the return line.  So I'll go with the new bit, but thatnks anyway.  Will let you know what its like...  Lots of rubber mounting this time!

Gots any pics of that TZ trackbike?  Have just realised I can't make Round 6 Donington in August or Round 7 mallory in Sept (holidays and weddings respectively- booo!!) But I'll have a Swan Song in cadwell for rounds 8 &9 in October.

Cheers for now

That Mike Edwards threw me down the road, right and proper at Snetterton - and it wasn't even in the race!
I got absolutely smashed to bits.
Mike said that he actually hoped that my frame was damaged, then he would take my motor out and throw the rest away! Fancy the cheek of it!
What a strange crash, Mike had done the chicane, straightened me up to get on the gas for the straight, and then I just chucked him off - almost made the pit lane entrance!
Check out the slow rebuild - Gordon's Blog

The online motorcycling discussion group Ixion have done very many Cadwell track days. I heard that most of the corners are now 'bagged', i.e. they have been named by the Ixie that fell off there.

It seemd that they had finally run out of corners to christen until Mike Cater (ex-TC member) did the only decent thing left open to him, he binned it in the pit lane :)
