I knew I had an SRX400 somewhere, and this weekend I found it hiding under a bike cover next to the wife's CBR. What's more, I had a good go at getting it started again. Its only been nearly 4 years since it conked out......
Petrol ready, no leaks from carbs, jump leads to car battery connected and away we go. Or not in this case.
On checking for problems it appears the spark has been stolen! So, out with plug, off with cap, bare HT lead and still missing or very weak spark. Funny thing is though, sometimes when I released the start button the inertia of the engine allowed a large blue spark to appear. Methinks not enough power is reaching the system to crank and spark.
I checked the jump leads and one had nearly melted on one its clip connectors!! Talk about a major bit of resistance to current flow. Going to Halfords tonight to get some new substantial ones and will try again.
