Ultrasonics
« on: January 04, 2024, 09:45:40 AM »
Hi Folks, Happy New Year.
I'm thinking of buying an Ultrasonic Cleaner Gadget for cleaning carburettors, for Bikes of course but also for bl**dy Lawnmowers.
Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated,  (I don't even know what size in Litres to go for)

---------------yes I know one alternative solution is to buy cheap but effective Chinacarbs!

Cheers,
Robin.

I have a cheap small ultrasound machine I bought years ago but have to say I haven't found it that useful. Quite good for fewellery though!

I know nothing about ultrasonic cleaners but feel your pain about lawn mowers! After farting about with mine I had it professionally serviced and it was the best money I ever spent.

Ian

p.s. I use aerosol spray carb cleaner when I need to and always have good results.

Thanks Folks, I've ordered some Aerosol Carb Cleaner and I'll give that a go.
Can't help thinking of the days of nice simple foolproof Amal Carbs, and Proper Petrol!

Aye Robin,

Quote
simple foolproof Amal Carbs
If only! That warping zinc alloy diecast and wearing needle and needle jets can be a right .....!  ;)

However, I still fit them to my Ducati's rather than the now exorbitantly priced Dellorto carbs and their spare parts. Using a fuel stabiliser in the E5 and E10 fuels also appears to work, but if the bike isn't going to be run for a couple of months, I drain the fuel tank, carb bowl etc and leave it open to vent. So far, so good.

Good health, Bill
