GB500 Cam Chain
« on: July 31, 2007, 03:43:42 PM »
I am about to replace the cam chain on my mate's GB500 and would welcome any advice. I have sourced a Tsubaki split link chain from B&C Express, are these any good?
Can the tensioner be removed without lifting the head and if so can it be overhauled or is replacement preferrable?
Where can I get a cam cover gasket?
What are the torque settings for cam cover and cylinder head bolts?
Anything else I should watch out for?
Why did I let myself get talked into this in the first place1
Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated.

First - make sure your mate has laid in the beers, wine or whatever before you start - do not want to get to the finish and then find out he has forgotten

there may be a service manual at //www.gb.zyns.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10. Get gaskets from Honda or [less good] thumperstuff.com or maybe Dave Silver. As far as I know, splitlink camchains are fine.
