LOL! Only just! Actually they are only 2" wider than the handlebars. Loaded and ready for Dent now and looking like a Chinese basket sellers moped! Thought I was getting carried away when I strapped the BBQ on :o

Final update on this.......

......I don't like them >:( ! Too much movement and too much wieght behind the wheel spindle! Plus fuel consumption dropped from 170 miles per tank to under 150 which very nearly caught me out.
The support rack needs a drastic re-design and after all's said and done I prefer my soft panniers. My new mission (which may take some time/money) is to cut down my camping kit to the lightest/smallest set I can and make a new carry rack to haul it all.
Heyho, trial and error hey ::)

I have a Mk1 Pheonix Phoxhole that I hafve usewd as minimal kit for rallies - have even slept 2 in it once or twice.  Have only been run over in it a couple of times and it has been run over empty another couple - warning do not go too small on the tent!!!

Had a friend who did rallies with just a bivvi bag - was fine until he left his keys in the bike and we rode around the field with him still in the bivvi attached to the bike.

Mind I do like the idea of a tarp and a hammock.  Jack Wolfskin used to do a real nice triangular tarp tent - I am sure many others do too.

Last weekend Jethro and I attended a mutual chum's party on his farm near Crumlin (site of the Carrick headwetting TC bash).

I bivvi'd in my luuuurvely Terra Nova single hoop bag and Jethro had a neat arrangment with his poncho spread as a basha between his bike and the fence and his army Bivvi bag.

It's safe to say we were the most minimal of campers in that field by far, but the joy of waking up to the view was worth it.

I capped it off with breakfast and coffee cooked on my Svea 123, my favourite petrol stove:

Cheers

No. Closest big town is Ebbw Vale.
