Edinburgh run this week
« on: May 27, 2009, 09:14:48 AM »
When I posted pics of my borders run a week or so back there was some talk about doing a little evening run-out from Edinburgh.

Any interest in doing that either tonight (Wednesday 27th May) or tomorrow night?

Proposed route is:
Meet at the services on the City Bypass - 6:30 perhaps.
A703 to Peebles, B7062 to Traquair, B709 then the A708 to the Tibbie Shiels (recce for the November meet), Talla/Megget reservoir road to Tweedsmuir, A701 to Broughton, B7016 to Biggar then Carnwath, A70 back to Edinburgh. Just over 100 miles in total.

Weather forecast isn't the best, but then who's scared of a bit of rain?

Can't do tonight as I'll be riding back from Wales  ;D
Tomorrow night will depend on the weather tonight(!) and how knackered I am...

Afraid of rain? Nah... but given the choice I'll ride in the dry  ;)

Aye niblue,

Running courses this week and a series of seminars next so not in a position to make it. Also, only one bike of the 'fleet' is legal at present and that's the Bros! Mz nearly there, where ever that is, and the rear brake inspite of reverse bleeding is proving truculant to get any pedal ???

Thank you for the invite and I shall keep the peepers peeled for future invites.

Will be endevouring to get to the Bob Mac at East Fortune for 13-14/06/2009.

My regards, Bill.

P.S. Trust the black luxury saloon makes it back from 'The Valleys' Smudge! ;-)

Just back and having a quick spod while I warm up and recover from incipient deafness  :o (should've taken earplugs  ::) )
Weather was variable, nice to start with then fromStafford up to the lakes it was thumping down and most unpleasant. By the time I got to the 702 it was clear bar the odd bit of drizzle but by then I was cold and tired so not riding well  :-\ or indeed enjoying it  ::)

Bike ran like a champion but now needs a damn good wash and checkover and chain adjust/lube. Hope for decent weather tomorrow...
Friday night would be much better for me if it works with your plans?

On which happy note I'm 1. Knackered, 2. Going to bed!
Goodnight gents  ;)

Don't think arriving on a thumper is mandatory - especially as there is a chance I might turn up on my Deauville (although the XBR is more likely)!

Yup, as I say, bike ran well, thanks for the lift, hospitality etc  :). Feels like the chain needs tightened or the cush drive rubbers replaced but otherwise was working better than the rider this morning!
You didn't happen to find a source for a replacement top fairing mount/frame during your ownership did you?  :)

Did something break or did you mean flip-up screens ?. Screens can be bought from SkidMarx

Nope nothing broken, I just noticed that the main top fairing mount is pushed over to the side a little, presumably from same time the lower got scratched.
Might be able to bend it back, I'll have a look next time I've got the panels off. Not a drama and you have to look hard to notice it  ;)

I did spend some time measuring it all up and it looked fine. I always thought the clocks always looked offset to one side, not an optical delusion is it ?

Could be, but looking from underneath there appears to be a twist/angle in the frame where it mounts to the headstock, I shall track down another one and compare  ;) as I say, not a drama  8)
