Very nice. ;)

Always amazes me how different parts are once cleaned up and repainted. I mean, its the same frame, doing the same job (or going too) as the old, scratched and battered one, but looks a world different.

No, I prefer traditionally-coloured brown string rather than this new-fangled blue nylon stuff.

Frame looks nice though

Hello Ian
Frame looks good. Do you recommend Powder Coatings, Birmingham? I have a frame and swinging arm that needs coating gloss black and £70 seems reasonable. I've looked at their web site and they seem competent enough but a personal recommendation would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hello Boyd,
I have used Powder Coatings for the last 5 or so bikes that I have restored fully. I find Steve there very helpful and knowledgable. I took my frame on Tuesday  morning and he told me it would be ready on Friday morning. He actually phoned me up the next day to tell me it was ready.
Both bike frames in this pic were done by them

Hope this helps. By the way mine cost £81 incl vat because the SRX frame is in 3 parts but I also had the connecting piece and side stand done at same time (5 parts in total) The finish is very durable

I'm glad you brought up a recommendation for frame painting, it's exactly what my brother was asking me about earlier today. He wants to get his new (old) DR650 frame stoved and we neither of us knew of a decent company to use.

A bit more progress.... New Swinging arm in, rear mudguard fitted,  wiring harness cleaned up and repaired..but mods will be needed. Headlamp bracket shotblasted, painted and lacquered (trial positioning of new indicator). Ignition switch painted and refitted.
Airbox now sourced :)

A bit of an update with a couple of random photos. I was messing about with my new works phone so thought I would put it to good use

Switch cases all freshly painted, "shiny and new" with Letraset added.....I dont think they look too bad :) Just need a coat or two of lacquer now.
