$%%*!$% CAR DRIVERS!!!!!!!
« on: March 07, 2010, 06:37:20 PM »
Went for a pootle on the XBR this afternoon in the nice sunshine, 5 miles from home waiting at a roundabout to pull  onto the A road and some silly ""%^**& ran up my A7se!!!!!!!   Bo11ocks!
 >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Fortunately the damage on the XBR was limited to a numberplate, indicator, front brake lever and rear mudguard ( which took most of the impact)......all the expensive bodywork was completely unmarked ....apparently the car's wing wasn't so lucky.

The young lass driving had only passed her test 3 months ago and was hysterical....I think she thought she was going to get ripped limb from limb by a mad biker!!!.....almost...

I was fine and thankfully the XBR rides fine.....not a great start to the season. :(

Everyone taking a driving test should be made to take a CBT to see what it's like to be on the other side of the wheel...

Glad you are ok

Pleased to read you are OK and less importantly the bike is repairable. Perhaps the track is the safest place. ???

As an after thought, the loons were out here today. ::) 4 x Aprilia 50RS with maybe a 'Big bore' kit in at least two, being thrashed by whippet like jockeys, 'drafting' along the straight.  :-X  ;D :-X

Better rebuild the one in the workshop!

Glad you're ok and the bike not too bad. With a bit of luck this fright will cause her to look twice for bikes and pay attention for the remainder of her driving career!

I echo the comments that I am glad you are OK.

I have been taken from behind a few times on my bike, ooer, and always while stationary. What is that expression, 'hide things in plain sight'? Just how difficult is it to see a stationary odd shaped object (no offence meant) in the road in front of your eyes? Having said that, I have seen people pull out in front of fire engines when they have their blues'n'twos on...so what hope have stationary objects got of being spotted?

Thanks Guys,

I've checked the bike over and luckily no serious damage. The mudguard was the biggest casualty.  Young lass's dad is paying up in full for repairs  ;)....I think he's glad to keep his excess and NCB!

Lucky escape.  If she'd hit me a bit harder and a bit straighter she would have pushed me onto the roundabout instead of just pushing me over!!!  :o

Has to be said that your probably her learning curve...thankfully everyone is okay.

I hate it when people say following two sentences.
1) You learn to drive after you pass your test.
2) I dont think I could pass a test tomorrow.

It shouldnt be like that.

Funny you said that - happened outside my house last week, some guy put his foot down to get past some parked cars and the fire engine had to emergancy stop, it was like a smoke grenade going off behind it.

I thought the firemen were gonna roadrage him...lol... lucky for him they had a 5car pile up to go to...

which reminds me - it was also really icy that day!

I agree with Dave500`s comments re CBT.....There is definately advantages to doing it as both my kids found out when taking their driving tests on 4 wheels...they definately had more "road sense" and thought a lot more about who else is on the road.

Glad you are ok Steve...its everyones nightmare on a bike being hit in the rear portion. Im sure the young lass will be a better driver in the long run for it..however cr*p the situation feels right now.

Same over here mate, last night a traffic light changed and after a fairly brisk stop and coast of about 2 meters to the line, I was passed by some bright woman going for it. I think there may have been 25-50 mm between mirrors. Lucky I had just moved in to the left lane prior to braking. The bitch treated it as a joke at the next light and having a go at me for pointing out her IQ!!!! This was the intersecttion my wife and I had been hit in her car about 6 months ago.

Hummm brings back memories of the Ogri cartoon where he is shoved by a bus onto a junction - he turns around and punches a hole through the bus rad (was an old bus).

Had an old duffer roll back from a junction once - his Jag mounted my DT125 front wheel.. I got off the bike, leaving it standing as it was trapped by his car, and walked round to ask him what he was doing.  He told me to piss off and get a car, promptly driving off.  Result - bike crashes to ground... Bugger
