Looking good, Ian.  I'm sure they're the same sort of wheels I had on my XJ600.

I notice you've not got that stupid red warning light that comes on when you get a bit of a shift on.

the red '80 kph' light was only on the home (japanese) market bikes... just another little SRX quirk  :)

Very handy to on many of the 'Urban Freeway' type multi carriageways, around large towns and cities, 50mph limit!!!!!!!! Weegie has miles of it and plenty of cameras to charge you for the privilege of exceeding it! :(

Steve...
Rear shocks are bog standard Hagon items that came with the bike, apart from the top hat (spring location) that I altered  and made out of Aluminium. I only dismantled them, cleaned and painted the cylinders and polished the springs using a length of rag and solvol, a job that took almost an evening to do both springs!  Here is the only photo of "before" that I have. Rear disc is the same model that I put on the SRX-4 (that Trevor (tj63) now owns) bought off flea bay. As for cost..I don't really know, but I will do a quick calculation now you have asked as I'm curious myself  :o

Ian :)

I expected nothing less!  :)

But it is always SO satisfying when the whole plan comes together with that burst into life.

are you on the standard carbs?

Steve I borrowed the carbs off the hybrid just to give me a bit of time to rebuild the ones for this bike. Hoping to get it MOTd this week. Hope to have both bikes completed soon :)

Will post few final pics soon

Nice looking bit o' kit now Ian.

I'm sure you'll have grand time out on it. It'll be like a flypaper though I suspect!  ;) How fast Mister? Can I buy it? I had one of those in 195*, leaked oil! Used to pull the wife and 5 kids in a greenhouse to Skegness wi' one o' them! ;)

Aye, the craic can be as much fun as the restoration and grot under the nails.

Thank you for posting the pictures.

My regards, Bill.

Lovely m8.  Far better than when it left me.... Enjoy

Is that an mph adaptor i see on the end of the speedo cable?

and are they 90 profile tyres? or the standard 80?

AND.... (sorry for all the silly questions) .. do you know if the standard srx shocks can be rebuilt/serviced ? i have a feeling SteveH said they can't, but i have 3 pairs here that are scrap if i can't get them fixed.

You dont miss a trick  (you eagle eyed bu99er!) Yes it is an MPH adaptor, still available from M&P as I wanted to keep the excellent condition original Speedometer, and Im sure the tyres are 90 (Im typing this at work so Im working off my ever deteriorating memory) Theres not a lot of room left under the front mudgard which is why the nuts are on top of it!

Im almost certain that the standard shocks cant be serviced unless you know of someone who can strip and re seal them but I think its easier to put new ones on. I was only able to rebuild the Hagon shocks because the seals were still good and I only had to basically clean and repaint them.

No question is ever sillly if you dont know the answer!

Regards
Ian :)

Thought so, i had a problem with the 90 profile front, it actually rubbed on the underside of the guard. (mainly due to the rivets being a bit loose, and at speed the guard pressed down), in fact on the way back from the TC rally at baskerville hall, the bloody thing wore right the way through near the front.
