XTZ660 '97 Drive Sprocket Removal
« on: May 15, 2011, 01:05:42 PM »
Need to replace the chain and sprockets on the XTZ but don't have a manual. What is the best procedure to 'lock' the sprocket in position prior to removing the holding nut? I assume that it must be a similar to most SRX/XT/XTZ. Is it a lefthand thread?

As most of you will know I usually don't keep bikes long enough to do this sort of thing. The last one I did, Honda Dominator, had a different locking arrangement.

Cheers in advance.....

skorp (and racer) was just a lock washer and normal RH thread if I remember correctly.

Which I may not!

Dr. D

"Hay fenk queue!"

Just bought a new lock washer (£2.50 off the shelf @ Granby MC, Ilkeston - v. good) so now I don't have any excuse not to fit new S&S before freefalling into the Rhineland later this month.

I tried everything short of voodoo to get the bugger off an XT600e. I then bought a battery powered impact driver. You can't believe how easy someyhing is with the right tool!(As my wife keeps reminding me)
