New project: SRX400

I won this on ebay on Saturday.  There is no CDI unit but there was a video of the bike running using a borrowed unit.  It has only 9500 miles on the clock.   The side panels are missing but I have already found a pair on ebay ! The tank is undented, unlike the one on my poor SRX which I dropped on a bollard while on holiday.

In the short term, I'll probably put the undented tank on my current SRX but I'm still hoping I can get the dented tank fixed (thank you Ian  ) and get the "spares" bike up and running and road legal.  Both bikes need smartening up, to be honest, so they'll both get their turn at a bit of pampering.

How much ? Just £165 plus £50 to have it delivered !

Well, it arrived today.

I was prepared to find that the ebay photos had flattered it, as is often the case, but if anything it looks tidier than I expected.  The tank is in nice nick, although the paint job isn't great.  Someone has done a nice job of re-covering the seat.  It had been reunited with the side panels, which means I now have a spare pair.

My plan is to take swap the nicest bits on the "new" bike and put them on my original one, then strip and refurb the "new" one over time.  It will probably take a while as I also have some other projects on the go. Once one of them has been tarted up, I'll do the same for the other one.

I'm feeling quietly chuffed !
