The other day I gave my gaffer his ticket for the 2013 Dragon, having successfully
conned persuaded him to attend after 3 years of trying. He's a long term motorcyclist (there's no cure) and used to attend the Dragon during the 60's and 70's so he tells me, but hasn't attended for a few years since he went along, spent the day not finding faces that he knew and eventually gave up ad went to bed at around 7.30pm
I have succeeded in getting him to come along on the basis that he'll at least know me, and I usually team up with whichever other habitual offenders I know and can locate (don't we all?) When giving him the ticket I mentioned that final instructions for the check-in will be sent out a week or two beforehand, and he recalls that this is how it's done. I suggested that this was in order to keep the riff-raff out whereas he feels that the reason is actually so as to keep the riff-raff in!
