Got mine today. Which is a little odd seeing as I've sold my bike, all my bike gear* and all my camping gear. What the phuk was I thinking? But I'm sure between now and then, assuming that some leaden Arabic bureaucrat doesn't suddenly awaken from his slumbers and I'm dragged kicking and screaming to warmer parts, I will be able to blag all the requisite bits!

* apart from helmet and boots

Boyd

You're welcome to borrow my camping gear, Boyd.  It's not like I'll be using it at that time of year ;)

But sorry, you can't borrow the Beemer.

Trevor

..............I will be able to blag all the requisite bits!.............
Hi Boyd, If you get stuck for two wheeled transport, I'll lend you one. Let me know nearer the time.
 Dave.

Trevor & Dave
When an inverterant blagger such as myself posts such an outrageous request and gets two very welcomed replies it makes me realise why I like this club so much. Although our paths only rarely cross, and truth be told we don't really know each other that well, there are several members I would class as real mates who can always be relied upon to offer assistance, piss taking, or usually both.

Thanks so much for your generous offers which, depending on how things pan out over the next week work wise, I will serious consider taking you up on.

Boyd

You can have my helmet anytime.

Dragon Rally 2013: An interesting and novel perspective.

The other day I gave my gaffer his ticket for the 2013 Dragon, having successfully conned persuaded him to attend after 3 years of trying.  He's a long term motorcyclist (there's no cure) and used to attend the Dragon during the 60's and 70's so he tells me, but hasn't attended for a few years since he went along, spent the day not finding faces that he knew and eventually gave up ad went to bed at around 7.30pm  :-\  I have succeeded in getting him to come along on the basis that he'll at least know me, and I usually team up with whichever other habitual offenders I know and can locate (don't we all?)  When giving him the ticket I mentioned that final instructions for the check-in will be sent out a week or two beforehand, and he recalls that this is how it's done.  I suggested that this was in order to keep the riff-raff out whereas he feels that the reason is actually so as to keep the riff-raff in!

Prep is under way for Dragon then. One month to go. Leave booked as is Friday night in Betws. XBR to have fettle, new rear brake shoes then off for mot at Jethros place.

I am actually quite excited about this run. Plans for fitting panniers may have to be shelved, due to time.

How are others getting on?

Rob.

As it stands at the moment my 'plans' consist of:

HELMET                                                              Check
BOOTS                                                               Check
TICKET                                                               Check
EVERYTHING ELSE MOSTLY SOLD/GIVEN AWAY     Check

Not even sure yet if I'll make it but it would be a shame to miss possibly my last one! We'll see.......
