Deliberate damage
« on: September 09, 2013, 12:11:14 PM »
I was asked by my friend to do a pre mot check on her sons motorcycle back in May.  I did all the usual checks, make sure everything was tight and split pins were in place, checked the brakes and tires etc, anyway the bike passed its mot no problems.

Since then the young lad has used his bike to get to work, (late night in a pub)  however I am worried about what has been happening, first the brake torque arm has fallen off (imposable unless the split pins are removed) the torque arm hit the road and was bent and damaged beyond repair. This was replaced along with the brake actuating lever which was also damaged.

2 weeks ago I had a call from his mum saying the side stand had also fallen off on his way back from work, another virtual impossibility, last week all the pipes were pulled off the carburetor, and today I got a call saying something had happened to the back end. I have just got back, and cannot believe what has happened, the whole of the rear brake casting has been smashed to pieces and the shoes are missing and a couple of the spokes have been ripped through the hub flange. There is no way this is accidental damage.
I have told his mum to call the police.

Scary stuff mate. Does he think it's targeted or just random vandalism? Had a coil ripped off my xt100 when I was a nipper. The culprit didn't take it, just tore it off and left it there. Left a nasty feeling in the pit of my guts.

He maybe ought to think about where he parks it, especially if he is working late at night. Not nice though this kind of vandalism.
