Jools Hootenanny
« on: January 01, 2017, 11:55:34 AM »
Nothing to do with bikes, I know, unless you count the fact that Seasick Steve has a few old Harleys and Indians. A certain person, and all round good egg, occasionally comes on the page, by the name of Indian Tim, and he maintains them for him, along with his classic american cars. Maybe he could enlighten us about what Seasick has, if its not top secret?
Anyway, I reckon last nights Hootenanny was the best for a long time, so just thought I'd recommend it  ;)

jools hollands later, and his annual hootenanny are by a million miles the only tv music shows worth watching. real music played by real musicians to an audience of their peers. its superb tv, and the new years eve show is the pick of the years. last nights was upto their usual high standard, although im not really a fan of seasick steve, even before his real backstory came out revealing the old 'hobo bumming round the midwest was a complete fabrication and that he has lived his adult life making a decent living as a session musician, his music is just a bit bland for me. even before it came out that it was all fake. if thats the sort of stuff you like, check out 'the reverend paytons big damn band' similar stuff but much more bluesy and authentic home grown banjo pluckin stuff.

I enjoy all the stuff on Jools, pretty much. And, as you say, it is the only music TV show worth watching. Radio wise, I'm a huge fan of BBC 6Music. In fact i'm just listening to Guy Garvey's Sunday afternoon show, as a type this, in anticipation of my favourite show of the whole week, Jarvis Co@kers Sunday Service. So pint of Black Wych in one hand, and the latest Real Classic in the other, its time to rrreeelllaaaxxx  ;)

Good music/ motorcycle news item from 2016 was Bruce Springsteen's bike, a customised W650 breaking down. Turns out the bike was built by none other than Billy Joel!
Good on Bruce for getting back on after an accident in his teens left him with a hospital stay for concussion.
