Dome nuts for fixing exhaust to cylinder head studs 'TOOLSTATION'
« on: September 04, 2017, 03:02:15 PM »
Bought SS dome nuts from 'Toolstation' for fixing exhaust pipes to the studs on the XT600E. Plenty of copper grease and they went on a treat, so hopefully I should be able to remove them for maintenance. Other bulk bags of SS fixings and threaded rod (replacement exhaust studs) are in stock and at reasonable prices. Not the same range and finishes as some of the online suppliers whom I use, but very handy, cheap and appear to be of good quality.

best solution i have seen is stainless steel studs, and double width brass nuts to seecure them. that way they will always come free, but if they in any way sieze up, the brass nut will always strip before the stainless stud. ive even seen brass dome nuts made from brass hex bar.
