Shepherds Rest 2018
« on: October 05, 2017, 07:43:05 PM »
Yes, its back! The dates for next year will be the weekend over 19 to 22nd April 2018. We will follow last years successful format which will be a joint Thumper/Royal Enfield/Irish Sidecar Owners Club. So plenty of notice for you all  ;)

Just bumping this up. Only advertised on here, REOC magazine, and ISOC site, so very exclusive  ;)
Toying with the idea of a spin around Donegal for a few days afterwards, and then to the ferry ports at Belfast or Dublin for those that need it.

This sounds a great event (from online chat last time). Sadly, I am going to my German "Earthdaughters" Confirmation which is on 22 April.

My plan is to get my CX (sorry, non-thumper) working again and go to Germany on that (it's what we last visited them on).
XBR500,  FT500 (USA reg still but now starts/runs nicely!)
non-thumpers CX500EC, NTV650P

Barring any family emergencies, I'm really hoping to make it to this Tim. Roll on spring I say....

Great stuff. Unfortunately no dates will ever suit everyone. If you've never been to this part of the country, this weekend is a good excuse to do so. And never worry about what bike your on, though a young fella ticked all three boxes last year, and turned up on a RE outfit  ;)

Enjoyed it so much the first (and last) time I went - I think it would be rude not to attend. Hopefully there will be a strong Welsh presence !

Yes, that would be great. As long as I don't have to sit up all night in the cottage getting seriously 'wrote off' with Mark again  :D

The 19th is my 60th birthday so might just treat myself to a nice pressie in the form of an Irish rally. Pete we could ride over together if you're going.

I didn't realise Colin (owner of the Shepherd's Rest) had posted this after last years rally. A thumbs up for the TC and sidecar clubs.

Great, sounds like a plan Ian!

Excellent I'm looking forward to this event especially after seeing the photos that Rossco posted. After the Christmas silly season Pete maybe we should get together to think arrangements.

Yes, good idea Ian. Maybe meet halfway or something once the weather has started to warm up a bit again....

Hi Tim ,
Please don't hold me to this but a plan is starting to come together , come over for the Sheperds rest meet a few days exploring then back to the Sheperds rest for the Cookstown 100 ! A bit early to confirm but that's the plan if it all comes together ?
Cheers Mark

Hi Mark, that would definitely work as a trip. Shep Rest is only around ten miles away. We used to coincide the rally with the race, but not the last couple of years.

Got an email from Jacqui Fernoux yesterday, to say she we will hopefully be coming to the Shep Rest. For those who don't know, Jacqui spent seven years travelling around the world on her RE Bullet. She has written a book about her exploits, and has offered to give a talk while at the Shep Rest, and will probably bring a few books for sale too. Sounds good to me  :)
