Progress of sorts.
« on: March 02, 2018, 08:33:09 PM »
So, today I sold eight Honda projects. Five XBRs and three GB250s. Lost money obviously, but not as much as I expected. Ill soon be down to single figures  ;)

Hopefully having a bit of a clear out Tim will help you get your MOJO back. Since my accident I sold all my "projects" except the xbr tracker. It is almost like a weight off ya shoulders, just focus on the one project. Things that way things don't kindda seem quite as daunting, especially if ones not doing it as a full time job. .... cheers, Michael

I totally agree Michael. I'm still just as keen on bikes, just not working on them. I still have......
Honda Dommie, a Honda Dommie project, an Armstrong MT500, a Jawa and Velorex chair, a Dnepr outfit, a Ural, three Minsk 125s, a Royal Enfield J2 500, a half share in a Matchless G9, and a mad hardtail chop with a Katana 750 engine. I think that's it!
At one stage I had nearly thirty bikes, and I know quite a few people who have over fifty.
Like a few of you on here, I think I will probably buy an EFI Bullet as my modern bike  :)

I'm just envious of the amount of space you must have!

Although many years ago when I had a big shed, it was rare to have more than one of the half-dozen or so bikes that I would have actually in roadworthy condition......

SOLD EIGHT HONDA PROJECTS!

You're pretty much a Thumper Club in your own right.

Haven't done it much, but selling a project (or two) is sometimes quite a release!!

Buying a modern bike (but the deal is that anything fancy and it goes to a dealer) can have the same effect; however, dealers can let you down, and nearly new bikes can have teething problems or go bad. Plus...depreciation!!!  Think 10-yr-old-plus is a safer bet for yr "modern". Bit older, and you can get it onto yr classic insurance too.

Good luck with your sorting, and whatever else it takes to motivate! I must admit I am currently sitting in the house when I could be in the garage fixing my shagged CX Prolink.
XBR500,  FT500 (USA reg still but now starts/runs nicely!)
non-thumpers CX500EC, NTV650P

Aye Brendan,

If the weather in Embra is anything like the clart and wind being thrown at us here 50 miles up the road, you're as well biding inside. I have Sally + 4 others requiring attention and 2 that need fettling, but even with the stove lit it is parky and the leg doesn't approve. So will wait till the temperatures rise to something above a balmy 5°C afore starting!

Good health, Bill

Well I have now semi retired, finished my project (virtually, but are they ever finished?). So I am waiting for the better weather and my registration to arrive then its all go to cover a few miles and do a bit of snagging on the SRX.

Ahh this is the life........
